Description
Dr. Albert Schweitzer was a German—and later French—theologian, organist, philosopher, physician, and medical missionary in Africa, also known for his historical work on Jesus.
In 1952 he received the Nobel Peace Prize for his philosophy of "Reverence for Life", expressed in many ways, but most famously in founding and sustaining the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambaréné, now in Gabon, west central Africa.
Revered in his time as a deep thinker and wise man, the story goes that one day, a reported asked him, "Dr. Schweitzer, what's wrong with men today?"
The great man said, "The problem with men today is that they don't think."
