Henry Ford was one of the Titans of American Industry and another unique, American rags-to-riches story. He started his working career as a machinist and later an engineer with the Edison Illuminating Company. Henry was eventually promoted to Chief Engineer in 1893.
But Ford was a tinkerer and a problem solver, fascinated with the idea of the horseless carriage. In his spare time, he built his "Ford Quadricycle." Henry's employer, Thomas Edison approved of Ford's machine and encouraged him to go on his own. The rest, is history.
Like many great men, Ford observed that most men don't like to think very much. His observation from over 100 years ago is as reliant today as it was then, "Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is probably the reason why so few engage in it." Proving that some things, never change.
